Boston

A City At Night With Persony Tall Buildings
The Prudential Tower has a magnificent view of Boston but you have to shoot through many layers of glass. I used my K-7 and a small pancake lens (DA 21mm f/3.2) on small tripod (Ultra-pod II, the best 20$ I ever spent on a photographic equipment) as close as possible to the window. My Tilley was then used to cover the eventual reflections.

Ah, Boston. A city with a rich history and an undeniable charm, it is truly one of the top destinations in the United States.

If you’re looking to explore America’s past while indulging in some modern delights, then Boston is the place for you. From its iconic landmarks to its vibrant neighborhoods, this city has something for everyone.

Let’s start our journey through Boston by diving into its historical significance. The city is known for its pivotal role in the American Revolution, and there are plenty of sites that pay homage to this era.

One must-visit location is the Freedom Trail, a 2.5-mile long path that takes you through 16 historically significant sites. As you walk along this trail, you’ll come across landmarks such as the Paul Revere House, where the famous midnight ride began, and the Old State House, where the Declaration of Independence was first read to the public.

But Boston isn’t just about history; it also boasts a vibrant cultural scene that will leave you captivated. Take a stroll down Newbury Street and immerse yourself in its upscale boutiques and art galleries.
If you’re a sports fan, catch a game at Fenway Park – home to the beloved Red Sox – and experience firsthand the passion and energy that fills this iconic ballpark. And let’s not forget about Boston’s culinary delights!

The city is renowned for its seafood offerings, so make sure to indulge in some fresh lobster or clam chowder at one of its many seafood shacks or upscale restaurants. Chicago

A City Skyline With Persony Tall Buildings

A city that often finds itself in the conversation of top destinations to explore America, but let me be brutally honest here – I find it vastly overrated. Sure, there are a handful of iconic landmarks and cultural spots worth a visit, but when it comes to truly memorable experiences, I can’t help but feel underwhelmed by the Windy City.

First and foremost, let’s talk about the architecture. is hailed for its skyscrapers and modern urban design, but to me, it all starts to blend together after a while.

The Willis Tower (formerly known as the Sears Tower) might have been an engineering marvel at one point, but these days it’s just another tall building with an overpriced observation deck. And don’t even get me started on Millennium Park.

Yes, “The Bean” is an interesting piece of artistry, but does it really warrant all the hype? I think not.

Now let’s move on to the food scene in Chicago. Deep dish pizza seems to be the holy grail for many visitors, but truth be told, I find it more akin to a soggy casserole than a true culinary masterpiece.

Don’t get me wrong – I appreciate unique regional dishes as much as anyone else – but when it comes to pizza, give me a thin crust New York slice any day. And if we’re talking about iconic food staples here, let’s not forget about the Chicago-style hot dog; neon green relish and all.

It might be considered sacred by some locals, but personally speaking…it’s just not my cup of tea. I must address Navy Pier – that bustling tourist trap with its Ferris wheel and carnival-like atmosphere.

While families may enjoy this place for its rides and attractions geared towards kids (and kidults), I find myself longing for more authentic experiences that showcase the true essence of a city. Give me a hidden neighborhood joint with live music, or a local art gallery tucked away in a lesser-known corner of town.

These are the things that truly define a city’s culture and make it worth exploring. While Chicago may be on many people’s list of must-visit locations in the US, I can’t help but express my unpopular opinion that it falls short of its reputation.

Its architecture lacks diversity and fails to impress beyond the initial novelty. The city’s food scene, while boasting some iconic dishes, leaves me craving for more flavor and sophistication.

And let’s not forget about Navy Pier – an overcrowded tourist trap that fails to capture the essence of what makes Chicago unique. While I acknowledge that there are those who may find charm in this city, personally speaking, I would much rather spend my time and travel budget exploring other top spots in this vast country we call home.

Colorado

A Starry Sky Over A Snowy Mountain

Colorado is a state known for its breathtaking natural beauty and outdoor recreational opportunities, is undoubtedly one of the best places to visit in the USA. Another gem in Colorado’s crown is the historical town of Durango. Steeped in rich Wild West heritage and surrounded by awe-inspiring scenery, Durango offers a glimpse into America’s rugged past while providing modern comforts for visitors.

Take a ride on the iconic Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad through breathtaking canyons and along roaring rivers as you soak up the dramatic landscapes reminiscent of classic Western movies. Colorado stands as one of the best places to visit in The USA due to its unrivaled natural beauty and diverse range of experiences.

Whether you choose to explore the majestic Rocky Mountain National Park, embrace the luxury of Aspen, or immerse yourself in the Wild West charm of Durango, Colorado promises an unforgettable adventure. So pack your bags and embark on a journey to this captivating state that seamlessly blends outdoor excitement with cultural treasures.

Denali National Park

A Mountain Range In The Distance

The Denali National Park is without a doubt one of the most breathtaking destinations in the entire United States. Nestled within the heart of Alaska, this vast wilderness offers an unparalleled opportunity to truly immerse oneself in the beauty of nature.

With its sprawling landscapes, towering mountains, and abundant wildlife, Denali National Park is a must-visit location for any avid adventurer. One of the main draws of Denali National Park is undoubtedly its crown jewel – Mount McKinley, also known as Denali.

Standing tall at a staggering 20,310 feet, this majestic peak dominates the skyline and serves as an awe-inspiring backdrop for those exploring the park. Whether you’re an experienced mountaineer looking to conquer its summit or simply an enthusiast seeking solace in its presence, Mount McKinley is sure to leave an indelible mark on your journey.

But it’s not just about mountains in Denali. The park boasts a diverse range of ecosystems that house an incredible variety of wildlife species.

From grizzly bears roaming freely in search of food to herds of caribou migrating through vast tundra landscapes, every moment spent in Denali National Park feels like stepping into another world entirely. Wildlife enthusiasts will find themselves captivated by these encounters with nature’s most majestic creatures.

To truly appreciate all that Denali has to offer, I highly recommend embarking on one of the park’s many hiking trails. Whether you choose to hike through dense forests or traverse open meadows scattered with vibrant wildflowers, each step brings you closer to some hidden gem waiting to be discovered.
Keep your camera at hand because every turn reveals new vistas that will surely take your breath away. When compiling your list of must-see places in America, don’t overlook the wonders that await you at Denali National Park.

From its awe-inspiring mountains and diverse ecosystems teeming with wildlife to its extensive network of hiking trails that lead to unforgettable vistas, Denali is truly a gem of the United States. So pack your bags, lace up your boots, and venture into the wild beauty of Denali National Park – an experience that will undoubtedly leave you with memories to cherish for a lifetime.

Grand Canyon

When it comes to must-visit locations in the United States, the Grand Canyon undoubtedly tops the list. This majestic wonder of nature, located in Arizona, is a sight to behold and an experience that should not be missed.

As one of the top spots in America, the Grand Canyon offers breathtaking views and a sense of awe-inspiring beauty that is unmatched. The sheer size and grandeur of the Grand Canyon is truly remarkable.
Stretching for 277 miles and reaching depths of over a mile, this natural wonder is a testament to the power of nature. Standing at the edge of the canyon, you can’t help but feel small and insignificant in comparison.

The vibrant colors and intricate patterns carved into its walls by millions of years of erosion are nothing short of mesmerizing. Exploring this ideal location is an adventure unlike any other.

Whether you choose to hike along its rim or venture down into its depths on one of its many trails, you’re bound to be left speechless by its beauty at every turn. The South Rim offers stunning panoramic views and numerous viewpoints where you can capture those picture-perfect moments.

For those seeking a more secluded experience, the North Rim provides a quieter atmosphere with fewer crowds. Traveling to the US without visiting the Grand Canyon would be like traveling to Paris without seeing the Eiffel Tower – it’s simply unthinkable!

Hawaii

Palm Trees On A Beach During Sunset

Ah, Hawaii, the tropical paradise that often conjures up images of pristine beaches, swaying palm trees, and crystal-clear waters. It’s undoubtedly a dream destination for many travelers, but allow me to burst your bubble and offer a slightly different perspective on this revered hot spot. First off, let’s talk about the infamous Waikiki in Honolulu.

Now, I understand its popularity and appeal – after all, it has been glamorized in countless movies and travel brochures. But let me tell you something: Waikiki is an overrated tourist trap disguised as a tropical paradise.

Sure, the beach is beautiful with its powdery sand and gentle waves perfect for surfing beginners. However, behind that picturesque facade lies crowds upon crowds of people jostling for space like sardines in a can.

The sheer volume of tourists detracts from any sense of tranquility or authenticity you might hope to find.

Moving on from Honolulu’s chaos to another renowned Hawaiian island — Maui.

Yes, it boasts stunning landscapes and iconic attractions such as Haleakala National Park and road to Hana. But again, let’s not get carried away by the hype.

Maui has become overrun with visitors seeking their own slice of paradise. Expect bumper-to-bumper traffic along the road to Hana with little opportunity to appreciate the natural beauty surrounding you due to the constant stop-and-go movement.

Now let’s talk about something that might ruffle some feathers: Hawaii’s high cost of living (and traveling). While it may come as no surprise that an island destination would be more expensive than mainland USA, Hawaii takes exorbitant prices to a whole new level.

From accommodation to dining out or even grabbing a bottle of water at a convenience store – prepare yourself for prices that will make your eyes water faster than chopping an onion. So there you have it – my somewhat controversial take on Hawaii as one of America’s supposed “best places to visit.” Don’t get me wrong, there is beauty to be found in the Aloha State, but it’s essential to approach Hawaii with tempered expectations.

If you’re looking for a truly authentic and less crowded experience, I suggest venturing off the beaten path and exploring some of America’s other hidden gems. After all, diversity is what makes travel to the US so exciting.

Houston

A City Skyline With Persony Tall Buildings

Houston, the sprawling metropolis of Texas, often gets overshadowed by its more popular counterparts like New York City or Los Angeles. But let me tell you, my fellow travel enthusiasts, Houston deserves a spot on your list of must-visit locations in the USA. With its unique blend of Southern charm and modern sophistication, this city offers an array of experiences that will leave you in awe.

When it comes to cultural diversity, Houston stands tall among the top destinations in the country. As one of the most ethnically diverse cities in America, it is a melting pot of different cultures and cuisines.

From savoring mouthwatering Tex-Mex dishes to indulging in authentic Vietnamese pho or experiencing fiery Indian curries, Houston’s food scene is a gastronomic delight that will transport your taste buds on an international journey without ever leaving the city. If you’re a fan of art and history, then look no further than Houston’s Museum District.

This vibrant neighborhood houses some of the finest museums and galleries in the country. The Museum of Fine Arts showcases an extensive collection spanning thousands of years and various art forms from around the world.

For history buffs, a visit to Space Center Houston is a must. Dive into the captivating world of space exploration as you explore interactive exhibits, get up close to real spacecraft, and even meet astronauts who have ventured beyond our atmosphere.

But perhaps what sets Houston apart from other cities is its undeniable love for sports. If you happen to be here during baseball season, catching an Astros game at Minute Maid Park is an experience like no other.

The energy is palpable as fans cheer for their beloved team while indulging in ballpark classics like hot dogs and nachos smothered in cheese sauce. So my dear fellow adventurers looking to explore America’s finest offerings – don’t underestimate this gem tucked away in Texas!

Add Houston to your list of best places to visit in The USA; dive into its rich cultural tapestry, soak in its vibrant art scene, and immerse yourself in the infectious spirit of sports. Trust me, Houston will leave you with unforgettable memories and a newfound appreciation for this dynamic city.

Las Vegas

Las Vegas Strip With Lights At Night

Ah, the infamous Sin City. It’s no secret that this place has a reputation for excess, indulgence, and debauchery.

Some may argue that it’s one of the top destinations in the United States, but let me tell you why I think it’s nothing more than a gaudy and overrated tourist trap. First off, let’s talk about the casinos.

Sure, Las Vegas boasts some of the biggest and most extravagant gambling establishments in the world. But is throwing your hard-earned money away on slot machines and blackjack really an ideal location for a vacation?

I think not. The glitz and glamor may be enticing at first glance, but once you step foot inside these establishments, all you’ll find is a sea of desperate faces hoping to strike it rich.

Plus, let’s not forget about the overwhelming stench of cigarette smoke that permeates every corner of these places. Next up is the nightlife scene in Las Vegas.

It’s no secret that this city is synonymous with wild parties and raucous revelries. But unless you’re into overcrowded nightclubs with overpriced drinks and music so loud that your eardrums might burst, then this so-called “top destination” might not be your cup of tea.

Trust me when I say there are much better places to dance the night away without feeling like you’re trapped in a sardine can. Let’s address the elephant in the room – Las Vegas’ lack of authenticity.

This city is nothing more than a manufactured mirage designed to lure unsuspecting travelers into its clutches. The flashy lights on the Strip may dazzle your eyes momentarily, but once you scratch beneath the surface, all you’ll find are artificially created replicas of famous landmarks from around the world.

Who needs to travel to Paris or Venice when you can experience them within this gaudy city? Well, I do.
I believe that true exploration lies in immersing oneself in authentic cultures, not in cheap imitations. While Las Vegas may be one of the so-called “best places to visit in the USA” for some, it falls flat for those seeking genuine experiences and meaningful travel.

If you enjoy wasting your money, being surrounded by superficiality, and reveling in a manufactured version of reality, then by all means, go ahead and embrace the glittering facade of Sin City. But for those who crave substance and authenticity when they explore America, I implore you to look elsewhere for your travel adventures.

Los Angeles

A City With A Body Of Water And A City In The Distance

Los Angeles, the city of dreams, glitz, and glamour. While it may be on many travelers’ bucket lists as one of the “Must-visit locations” in the USA, I must confess that I find it to be highly overrated.

Yes, it has its charms and iconic landmarks, but let’s face it – there are far better places to explore in America. Firstly, let’s talk about the traffic nightmare known as LA.

It’s no secret that driving in this city is a test of one’s patience and sanity. The never-ending gridlock on the freeways can turn what should be a short journey into an hours-long ordeal.

And even if you do manage to reach your destination without losing your mind, good luck finding parking amidst the sea of cars vying for those precious spots. Now, let’s move on to Hollywood – the epitome of glitz and glamour.

But behind its shiny facade lies a disappointingly artificial world that caters more to tourists than actual artists. Sure, you can take a stroll along Hollywood Boulevard and spot some familiar names on the Walk of Fame or take a selfie with Spiderman impersonators.

But if you’re looking for an authentic cultural experience or a glimpse into the real world of filmmaking, you’ll be sorely disappointed. And then there are the beaches of Los Angeles – often touted as some of the best in California.

While they may have their appeal for surfers and sunbathers alike, they pale in comparison to the pristine beauty found along California’s Central Coast or up north in places like Mendocino or Big Sur. The crowded beaches with their high-rise hotels and rows upon rows of beach towels don’t quite capture that sense of tranquility and natural splendor that other coastal regions offer.

While Los Angeles may have its moments and iconic landmarks like the Hollywood Sign or Griffith Observatory, it falls short when compared to the true gems of America. If you truly want to explore the best places to visit in the USA, I suggest venturing beyond the glitz and glamour of LA and discovering the hidden treasures that lie in wait throughout this vast and diverse country.

Miami

A Beach With Persony People And Trees

Ah, Miami. A city that conjures up images of vibrant nightlife, stunning beaches, and a melting pot of cultures. It’s no wonder why Miami consistently ranks among the top destinations in the USA.

From its iconic Art Deco architecture to its colorful street art scene, this city is a feast for the senses. One cannot speak of Miami without mentioning its world-famous South Beach.

With its powdery white sand and crystal-clear turquoise waters, South Beach is an ideal location for sun worshippers and beach bums alike. Whether you want to soak up the sun, take a dip in the ocean, or simply people-watch from one of the trendy beachside cafes, South Beach has it all.

And let’s not forget about Ocean Drive – a bustling strip lined with iconic pastel-hued buildings that house some of the city’s most renowned restaurants and bars. But Miami isn’t just about sun and sand; it also boasts a thriving arts and cultural scene.

The Wynwood Walls are a must-visit location for any art enthusiast. This outdoor museum showcases larger-than-life murals by some of the world’s most renowned street artists.

As you wander through this open-air gallery, you’ll find yourself immersed in an explosion of colors and creativity that reflects Miami’s vibrant spirit. Another top spot worth exploring is Little Havana – a neighborhood steeped in Cuban culture and history.

Take a stroll down Calle Ocho (8th Street) where you can indulge in authentic Cuban cuisine like crispy empanadas and creamy flan while immersing yourself in lively Latin music drifting from local clubs and cafes. Miami is undeniably one of the best places to visit in The USA.

Its picturesque beaches, thriving art scene, and multicultural charm make it an enticing destination for travelers from all around the globe. So pack your bags and get ready to explore America’s own tropical paradise!

It is a place where history meets artistry, where ancient traditions blend seamlessly with modern allure.

But Santa Fe is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to exploring New Mexico’s beauty. Venture further north to Taos, home to one of America’s oldest inhabited communities – Taos Pueblo.

This UNESCO World Heritage site provides a glimpse into the ancient traditions of the Native Americans who have called these lands home for centuries. The towering Sangre de Cristo Mountains provide a breathtaking backdrop as you wander through this living piece of history.

For nature enthusiasts, New Mexico does not disappoint. Head south to Carlsbad Caverns National Park and marvel at one of nature’s most spectacular creations – an underground labyrinth filled with awe-inspiring stalactites and stalagmites resembling something out of a fantasy novel.

Or perhaps set your sights on White Sands National Park where miles upon miles of shimmering white dunes stretch as far as the eye can see – truly an otherworldly experience. may not always be at the top of everyone’s travel itinerary, but I implore you to reconsider.

It is a state that offers a perfect blend of cultural immersion, natural wonders, and genuine hospitality. So pack your bags and prepare to be captivated by the magic of New Mexico – one of America’s best-kept secrets when it comes to travel destinations in the USA.

Orlando

Portland

Quito With A Mountain In The Background
Portland, Oregon and Mount Hood from Pittock Mansion

A city that often finds its way to the top of many travel lists and is heralded as one of the Best Places to Visit in The USA.

But let me tell you, my dear readers, that Portland is not all it’s cracked up to be. Yes, it may have its charm and quirks, but beneath the surface lies a city that fails to live up to its reputation.

Firstly, let’s talk about the weather. Now, I understand that it’s unfair to blame a city for something beyond its control, but the constant rain and gloomy skies in Portland can put a serious damper on your exploration of America.

Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate a cozy rainy day once in a while, but when it becomes a never-ending cycle of grayness, it can be downright depressing. And then there are the hipsters.

Oh boy, Portland seems to have become their unofficial headquarters. Now don’t get me wrong, everyone has their own unique style and interests.

But when an entire city feels like an episode of “Portlandia,” complete with bearded men on bicycles with handlebar mustaches sipping craft beer from mason jars… well, let’s just say it can feel more like a caricature than an authentic experience. Now let’s address the elephant in the room: Voodoo Doughnut.
Yes, this quirky doughnut shop has garnered quite the cult following and is often touted as one of Portland’s must-visit locations. But let me tell you something – their doughnuts are overrated!
Sure, they may look like works of art with all those crazy toppings and flavors like bacon maple bars or captain crunch-coated delights – but flavor-wise? Meh!

There are countless local bakeries across the country whipping up delicious pastries without all the gimmicks. While Portland may have its share of loyal fans who swear by its unique charm, I find myself unimpressed.

The perpetual rain, hipster overload, and overhyped doughnuts just don’t do it for me. So if you’re looking to explore America and discover its true gems, I would suggest considering other top destinations that offer a more authentic and fulfilling travel experience than what Portland has to offer.

San Antonio

A City At Night With Lights

San Antonio, ah, the Texan gem that often gets overshadowed by its more glamorous counterparts like New York City or San Francisco. But let me tell you, my friends, San Antonio is a hidden treasure that should not be overlooked. This vibrant city has so much to offer and should be on everyone’s list of must-visit locations in the USA.

Let’s start with the historic heart of San Antonio – the famous Alamo. As a history enthusiast, I cannot stress enough how crucial it is to visit this iconic landmark.

Stepping foot inside those walls will transport you back in time to one of the most pivotal moments in American history. The Alamo represents bravery and sacrifice, reminding us of the indomitable spirit that helped shape this nation.

But San Antonio isn’t just about dusty relics and faded glory. No, my dear readers, it also offers a rich cultural experience.

The vibrant River Walk is an absolute delight for those who appreciate good food and picturesque views. Picture yourself strolling along the cobblestone paths lined with charming shops and restaurants while enjoying a margarita or two (or three if you’re feeling adventurous).

San Francisco, a city synonymous with innovation and progressiveness, is undoubtedly one of the best places to visit in the USA. With its stunning natural landscapes, iconic landmarks, and diverse cultural offerings, it has become an ideal location for those seeking a unique and unforgettable travel experience. One of the top spots to explore in San Francisco is the Golden Gate Bridge.

Spanning across the entrance to the San Francisco Bay, this architectural marvel is a sight to behold. Whether you choose to walk or bike across it or simply admire its grandeur from afar, the bridge offers breathtaking views of the city skyline and the vast Pacific Ocean beyond.

It’s impossible not to be in awe of this majestic structure that has become an emblem of San Francisco. Another must-visit location in San Francisco is Alcatraz Island.

Known as “The Rock,” this infamous former prison housed some of America’s most dangerous criminals. Today, it serves as a popular tourist attraction where visitors can take guided tours and learn about its intriguing history.

As you step foot onto Alcatraz Island and explore its eerie cells and crumbling walls, you’ll be transported back in time, gaining insight into the lives of both prisoners and guards who once roamed these halls. From trendy boutiques and hipster cafes in Haight-Ashbury to bustling Chinatown with its colorful streets filled with aromatic cuisines, each neighborhood offers a unique atmosphere that adds to the city’s charm. Seattle

A City With Lights And Mountains In The Background

Seattle, ah Seattle. The epitome of hipster culture and a city that prides itself on its “alternative” vibe. But let me tell you, my dear readers, while Seattle may be the darling of many travel blogs and Instagram influencers, I have some strong opinions about this so-called “gem” of the Pacific Northwest.
First off, let’s talk about the weather. Oh boy, where do I even begin?

Seattle is known for its gloomy skies and perpetual drizzle. If you’re looking for a sunny getaway or a place to soak up some vitamin D, look elsewhere!

The constant misty rain is like an ever-present companion during your visit to this city. Trust me when I say that umbrellas become your best friend in Seattle.

Now let’s move on to what many people consider one of Seattle’s top attractions: Pike Place Market. Yes, it’s true that this bustling market has been around for over a century and offers an array of fresh produce and seafood.

But in my humble opinion, it’s nothing more than an overrated tourist trap. Sure, you can watch the famous fishmongers throw their salmon (which is admittedly quite impressive), but once you navigate through the crowds of selfie-stick-wielding visitors, you’ll realize that there are far better places to experience local cuisine.

And speaking of food, let’s address the elephant in the room: Starbucks. Yes, Seattle is home to the coffee giant that has spread its green mermaid logo across every corner of the globe.

But here’s my unpopular opinion: Starbucks isn’t all it’s cracked up to be! In a city known for its coffee culture, there are countless independent cafes serving up far superior brews than what you’ll find at any Starbucks outpost.

So why settle for mediocrity when exploring Seattle? (if you haven’t already sensed my disdain), while Seattle may be on many travelers’ bucket lists, I’d argue that there are far more enticing destinations in the USA.

The city may have its fair share of top spots and must-visit locations, but it lacks the charm and allure that many other American cities possess. So if you’re looking to truly explore America, I suggest venturing beyond Seattle’s overhyped reputation and discovering the hidden gems that this vast country has to offer.

Washington, D.C.

A White Building With A Dome And A Statue On Top With United States Capitol In The Background

Ah, Washington, D.C. The political epicenter of the United States. A city bustling with bureaucrats, power players, and more monuments than you can shake a stick at. Now, I’ll be honest with you folks, Washington, D.C. may not be everyone’s cup of tea when it comes to travel destinations.

But love it or hate it, there’s no denying that this city holds a unique place in American history and culture. Let’s start with the museums.

Oh boy, do they have museums in D.C.! From the iconic Smithsonian Institution to the lesser-known gems like the National Gallery of Art and the Newseum (RIP), there’s no shortage of cultural enrichment to be found here.

Whether you’re into art, history, science or just snooping around some ancient artifacts, D.C.’s got you covered. Now let’s talk about politics.

If you have even a passing interest in American politics, then a visit to Capitol Hill is an absolute must. Take a tour of the U.S. Capitol Building and soak up all that democracy in action (or perhaps inaction).

And if congressional proceedings don’t float your boat, why not pay a visit to the White House? Sure, you can’t just waltz right in these days (thanks a lot for ruining that for us regular folks), but hey, at least get a glimpse from outside and snap that obligatory selfie.

Last but certainly not least, we have the monuments and memorials scattered throughout this great city.

From the somber beauty of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial to the towering presence of the Lincoln Memorial overlooking the Reflecting Pool – these iconic landmarks tell stories etched into American history forevermore.

So yes my friends – while Washington D.C.’s political climate may leave much to be desired at times (and by “much” I mean “pretty much everything”), it still remains an intriguing destination worthy of exploration. So go ahead, immerse yourself in the history, the culture, and maybe even catch a glimpse of a few politicians going about their business.

Just don’t let them convince you that they’re actually doing any real work. That’s a story for another day.

Yosemite National Park

A Large Rock Formations With Trees In The Background

Now, let’s talk about Yosemite National Park.

Ah, the epitome of natural beauty and wilderness. I must admit, though, that my experience here was a bit of a mixed bag.

Don’t get me wrong, Yosemite is undeniably stunning with its majestic granite cliffs, towering waterfalls, and lush forests. But let’s not overlook some of the less glamorous aspects that often get swept under the rug when people rave about this place.

Firstly, can we address the crowds? Oh boy, if you’re looking for solitude and tranquility in nature, Yosemite might not be your cup of tea.

It seems like everyone and their cousin’s cousin decided to visit this park all at once. The popular spots are swarming with tourists wielding selfie sticks and blocking your view of Half Dome or El Capitan.
Trying to capture a serene moment with nature becomes an endless battle against other photographers vying for the perfect shot. And speaking of perfection, let’s talk about camping in Yosemite.

Now don’t get me wrong; camping can be an incredible experience if you’re well-prepared and enjoy roughing it in the great outdoors. However, finding a decent campsite in Yosemite can feel like searching for a needle in a haystack during peak season.

The best spots are snapped up within minutes of reservations opening up, leaving you with limited options that might involve pitching your tent next to snoring strangers or enduring the constant buzz of RV generators. (and brace yourself for this one), let’s address the mosquitoes!

Those tiny bloodsuckers seem to have evolved into stealthy ninjas capable of puncturing through multiple layers of clothing without detection. Forget about enjoying an evening stroll around Mirror Lake or sitting by the campfire without becoming their midnight buffet!

And don’t even think about leaving your tent unzipped unless you want to wake up covered head-to-toe in itchy bites. Now, I know I’ve painted a rather bleak picture here, but please understand that Yosemite National Park is still worth a visit.

Despite the hustle and bustle, the mosquitoes, and the camping challenges, Yosemite offers some of the most breathtaking natural landscapes you’ll ever see. Just be prepared for the less glamorous aspects and try to explore some of the lesser-known trails or off-the-beaten-path areas to truly appreciate the park’s beauty without the crowds.
